The Northeast Louisiana Summer Film Series continues July 18 with the screening of Five Awake. Directed by a Louisiana woman, this film follows the fierce efforts of five women who are fed up with domestic violence. The women push anti-domestic violence laws through the Louisiana legislature to protect their sisters across the state. The Arts Council partners with The Wellspring to feature this film.
Following the film will be a special panel discussion on domestic violence with Five Awake director Donna Dees and Wellspring representatives.
Five Awake is 35 minutes in length. All films will be shown at 7:30 p.m. at the Flying Tiger Brewery in downtown Monroe every third Wednesday this summer. Tickets for non-members are $5. Arts Council members will receive free tickets. To become a member of the Arts Council, click here.
