Union Parish Folk Life Day

Union Museum of History and Art will hold a Folk Life Day on Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.   The daylong event will be held on the grounds of the museum, 211 N. Main St., Farmerville.  Featured will be folk music and dance, demonstrations of folk skills, and foods.  Highlights include Drew Goodson, bladesmith, winner of a "Forged in Fire" episode; the Ouachita Strummers dulcimer group; Mike Sullivan, dancer; Freddy Armstrong, fiddler and banjoist; and Ricky Pittman, guitarist.  Skills that will be demonstrated include quilting, leather working, net-making, jams and jellies, candle-making, gardening, and Dutch oven cooking.  Collaborating with the museum in this event are the Union Parish Library and The Dance Studio of Union Parish.
