NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum: Black Inventors and Scientists Museum’s traveling exhibit

In honor of Black History Month, the NELA Delta African American Heritage
Museum is pleased to welcome Black Inventors and Scientists Museum’s traveling exhibit,
February 8 to February 12, 2022.

This traveling exhibit provides an exciting educational opportunity to learn about the great
contributions of Black inventors and scientists. Inventors like Lewis Howard Latimer
(1848-1928) who was a member of Thomas Edison’s research team, which was called “Edison’s
Pioneers”. Latimer improved the newly-invented incandescent light bulb by inventing a carbon
filament, which he patented in 1881.

The NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum encourages area schools and teachers to
schedule a tour to see the Black Inventors and Scientists Exhibit.
The exhibit will be available for viewing from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Friday, and
Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Admission to the NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum
is $5 for adults 18 and over and $3 for students and senior citizens. Group rates are available.
The NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum is dedicated to the preservation and
promotion of African American contributions and culture through public education, artistic and
cultural events.

The NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum is located at 1051 Chennault Park Drive
in Monroe and is open Tues. thru Sat.10am to 3pm. Admission is $5 for adults 18 and over and
$3 for children.
