Emerging Artist Form

Named for the late Dorothy Bassett, the Emerging Artist Award is designed to impact the lives of our next generation of artists who have demonstrated commitment to the arts and desire to pursue a career in their chosen discipline.  Created to honor new talent, innovation, and individual expression, the award supports young and emerging northeast Louisiana artists, aged between 17 and 25.  Nominees should be non-represented while participating in training, mentorship, or structured learning experiences.  Nominees must be nominated by an individual or organization from within the education, arts and cultural sectors.

*Past winners are not eligible for nomination if they have won the award within the last two years.

n narrative form, not to exceed 750 words in total, nominees should provide answers to the following questions:

1. What inspires him/her to create?
2. What made him/her decide to pursue art as a career?
3. Share some of the highlights of his/her art career?
4. Share what accomplishments he/she is most proud of? Have there been any obstacles to overcome?
5. What goals does he/she have for the next 5 years?

Supplemental materials are not required for the Dorothy Bassett Emerging Artist Award; however, they can strengthen your nomination. If you choose to include supplemental materials (press clippings, programs, samples of work i.e., slides, videos, photographs, etc.) they must be uploaded at the time of submission of the nomination form.  NO supplemental materials will be accepted after nomination submission.  Any external video links should be copied and pasted to the text box below the click and drag box for Panel Review. ***If you have any issue adding multiples items to the click and drag box, try highlighting them at all at once and dragging them at the same time to the box.
