Our mission at the Arts Council is really made up of three big things that encompass all we do: Support, Promote & EDUCATE! When people hear the words educate and education attached to the Arts Council, they often think that we mean "arts education". And while supporting arts education and educators within Region 8 is part of what we do, the educate in our big three encompasses a lot more than just that.
Artists and arts organizations can access education through the variety of learning workshops the Arts Council offers. Educators and students from our local universities can partner with us for learning opportunities in nonprofit management, communications, marketing and more through classroom collaboration and internships. Community members can educate themselves on the subject of arts advocacy through our website, as well as learn about the power and importance of the arts in our community.

The Lunch & Learn series is part of the Arts Council’s Art Is Business program, which equips artists and arts organizations with business skills to assist with professional development. Lunch & Learn lectures are presentations on various topics that can include public relations, income taxes, exhibition proposals, board management, and much more.

We are always willing to collaborate with educators from our regional universities and colleges when it comes to providing their students with hands on experience either in the classroom or as interns at our office location. If you are interested in chatting about such a collaboration, please click the link above.

During the months leading up to the Louisiana Project Grant application open date, our staff hosts grant workshops across Region 8's 12 parishes. Our vision is that every one of our 12 parishes has at least ONE project grant funded in the upcoming LPG cycle. That application will reopen late spring/early summer of 2025, but it is NEVER to early to prepare. Click the link above to learn more about our granting opportunities.
