Visual Artist of the Year Form

Named for the late Edmund Williamson, the Visual Artist of the Year Award was established to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of individual artists (visual or performing) and performing ensembles to the quality of life in northeast Louisiana.  Nominees should be visual artists who have shown excellence in their discipline and have enriched the Arts community through their art form during their career with special emphasis on activities occurring during the past year.

*Past winners are not eligible for nomination if they have won the award within the last two years.

In narrative form, not to exceed 750 words, provide a concise description of the contributions for which the individual/ensemble is being nominated.  The narrative should address and include, at a minimum, the following:

1)         a description of contributions by the nominee to the arts community through his/her/their art form.  Although the artist’s career should be addressed, special emphasis should be given to the last 24 months activities.
2)         any recent awards, achievements or recognition accorded the nominee.
3)         a summary statement by the nominee as to why he/she/they feel his/her/their art form is important to the growth of the arts in northeast Louisiana.  (This should be in the form of a 1-sentence quote from the nominee describing his/her/their desires to advance a greater appreciation or understanding of his/her/their art form through his/her/their body of work.)
